Pakistan Occupied Jammu-Kashmir & Gilgit-Baltistan: Changing discourse and prospects

New Delhi: On the eve of the birth anniversary of Sardar Patel,  Forum for Awareness of National Security organized an international webinar on Pakistan occupied Jammu-Kashmir & Gilgit-Baltistan: Changing discourse and prospects, today on digital forum. The international webinar witnessed plethora of speakers across the globe. The center of discussion was the current state of Jammu – Kashmir and Gilgit- Baltistan region. The speakers unanimously opined that we should strive for the peaceful co-existence of the troubled regions. Few participants stated the real prevailing situations in Gilgit-Baltistan. Jamil Maqsood and Shokoor Khan said that “the health and education system is in a dilapidated condition”, the region needs an urgent attention.  Mr. Shokoor underscored that the famous political officials in the region want to join Pakistan but the majority of the people wants the region to be the autonomous state. He further stated that India should take keen interest in the affairs of Gilgit- Baltistan and support us on International platform. Mr. Indresh Kumar, Chief Patron, FANS and National Member, RSS greeted the speakers and experts present for the webinar. While speaking he gave the historical account of the subject and assimilated the essence of it with the present scenario. He further equally questioned the existence and identity of Pakistan. Mr.Senge Sering, researcher and human rights advocate, USA, presented his views on human rights issues in Gilgit- Baltistan. He also spoke about Pakistan occupied Kashmir. He pointed out that the nationalists in Gilgit- Baltistan should speak the truth vis-à-vis the their legal agreement with India. Mr. Golok Bihari Rai, National General Secretary of Forum for Awareness of National Security, stated that we must think about a particular date to commemorate and respect the sacrifice, for the ones who gave up their life in Gilgit- Baltistan region in the endeavor for their independence from Pakistan. Unanimously, it was decided that 22nd October would be the date to pay homage and respect to the martyrs in the region. The webinar was coordinated and addressed by Dr. M. Mahtab Alam. Total 61 participants registered their presence. The webinar ended on a high note with the hope that there would be peace and tranquility in the aforementioned regions. The coordinator thanked all the participants for their valuable time. The name of few prominent speakers in the webinar are Mr. Senge Sering, Mr. Jamil Maqsood, Dr. Amjad Ayub, Mr. Arun Kumar, Mr. Golok Bihari Rai, Mr. Indresh Kumar.
